Extraordinary – even after 35 years legacy experience. Three assignments completed in the last working week. Not ONE turned out as I expected.
I am a passionate discoverer of SI – not AI (more of that later). SI? Supporter Ignorance.
There is NO such thing as a typical legacy campaign – each one will have a different starting point, content, journey and call to action. You have to look through the lens of ALL supporters.
Meeting supporters of these three causes (no I won’t tell you, it might give away their identity) blew me away concerning their SI.
* ignorance of funding sources
* ignorance of how services are funded
* ignorance of services available
* ignorance of being volunteer led
* ignorance of the need for legacies
* ignorance of legacy giving and how to do it
* ignorance of legacy impact
I could go on, but all three needed to start their legacy communication programme in different ways.
And that is why I love my work. The supporters of every client have a galvanic reaction to my planning and advice.
So, given these outcomes I put 20 prompts into two AI platforms to draft letters/emails/webpages and articles. Sorry but they were SO obviously AI generated. As Mark Phillips it is “artificial intelligence” and not “authoritative intelligence”. I now think AI stands for Annoying Intelligence. Let’s not forget legacy giving is the biggest opportunity to grow future financial strength but legacy strategies are unique to each charity. Repost if it helps.
